Wedding: 4/27/12
Our Ceremony and Reception were at the Japanese Garden on 4/27/12. We were hesitant about booking with Lauxmont Farms initially; due to some of the poor reveiws I found online. However, I couldn't get the beautiful view I was looking for anywhere else. So, we decided to go out on a limb. I AM SO HAPPY WE DID!!!! The ceremony site and the tent were set up according to plan. The decorations (lanterns/trees, lighted tent poles) that Betsy Kohr put up for us added some definite ambiance to the atmosphere. The parking attendants on horseback impressed our guests beyond belief! All of the events for the day went according to plan, the golf cart took myself and the bridesmaids back and forth so we didn't have to walk across the field in heels. There was only one flaw in the day, that was quickly corrected. It was very windy the day of the wedding; and the tent walls were not initially tied down properly which cause the table decorations to start blowing. Ron Kohr came up shortly after and began securing the sides so they stayed down. The horse and carriage ride after the ceremony made for some beautiful photographs. If I had to do it all over again; I would pick the same venue. You definitely pay for the scenery; but if you are looking for wonderful photographs and just a genuine serene wedding site. Lauxmont Farms Japanese Garden is it!

My husband and I were married at the Rotunda location. You cannot beat the view from this location. We had the wedding of our dreams. I would recommend Lauxmont Farms to anyone.

We only used Lauxmont Farms (Japanese Gardens) for the reception. The setting was beautiful and that's really what you pay for. Our caterer loved the set up and said it was really one of the best locations he had used. Before the wedding, we did get to meet up with our site coordinator once, but it was a pretty thorough meeting and we felt more comfortable since we didn't have a wedding planner. On the day of the wedding, our site coordinator disappeared around 4 although she said she was staying until dinner started. The only issue we had was that we had to try to hunt down the carriage (which was to take us to the cocktail hour) without anyone else seeing the two of us! The bridal house was still being cleaned when we showed up, so I had to finish carrying all of the stuff out to the trash and straighten up the room before the rest of the girls arrived. We used their on-site decorator only for a few items - one being mason jars with candles to light the path. She never showed up to light the candles, so I had some of our guests do it. Everything else looked beautiful, though, and she did a great job with the fall-theme. We used their photographer only for the photo booth - which was a hit. Unfortunately, she was late with the guest book and I don't know that a lot of people actually signed it. I would suggest that you get a 2nd guest book if you go this route - just so you don't miss anything!

I had my wedding and reception at the Rotunda on October 8, 2011. The venue was just breathtaking. Betsy was my coordinator as well and she made things go so smoothly without a hitch. I had visited Lauxmont many times but nothing prepared me for my wedding day. We had beautiful shepard hooks with candles, a fire pit, tables outside, and torches lit at night.
Lauxmont Farms far surpassed every expectation. As a little girl, you tend to picture a dream wedding, well Lauxmont Farms and Betsy made it even better than the dream.
All of my guests were telling me that it was the most amazing wedding they have ever attended. The view is so spectacular that it is almost like a dream. Our pictures look like we were superimposed because the view is that magnificent and couldn't possibly be real, but it sure was.
I've been approached by many of the attendees that wanted to know all the info about Lauxmont because they had daughters, sons, friends or relatives that were getting married and they were so struck by the location that they wanted to pass on the information.
I also have to say, you really can't take a bad picture there. I didn't spend as much on my photographer once I picked Lauxmont. I just knew that even the most amateur photographer could get magazine quality photographs there.
I highly reccomend Lauxmont if you want a wedding that everyone will remember.

We fell in love with Lauxmont Farms the moment we saw it. I will say that there were a few VERY minor hiccups in the beginning of our booking process, but once it came to "crunch time" and our wedding day, I cannot give Lauxmont Farms anything less than five stars and a raving review as they truly earned it.
The site coordinator, Barb, is nothing short of god sent. After spending time with us to perfectly arrange our floor plan, letting us walk through our site, and to ensure we had everything we needed for the big day we hit one heck of a brick wall... Hurricane Irene. We had spent months preparing to have our wedding at the Sunken Gardens. The location was absolutely gorgeous and perfect for our theme. However, with the impending hurricane due to hit the area on our wedding day it became dangerous and impractical for our event and guests. I called Barb FIVE days before our wedding to discuss our options and to my complete surprise and shock, not only was the Rotunda (indoors) available but it was offered to us as a backup plan at no additional cost AND we were given until the afternoon BEFORE our wedding to make a final decision. I just about fell over. A true life (and sanity) saver, Barb promptly faxed me a backup layout and reassured me that everything would be ok.
On the day of our rehearsal, Barb checked in with us and we confirmed that the change would be necessary. She took the time to go through the new site with us and our wedding coordinator, Jonnaysa of Planned Perfection, to make suggestions and confirm the new details. She was so attentive and calm, I almost felt like it was all a dream! When I left Lauxmont Farms that day, I knew that under the circumstances most brides would be panicking and fearful but I felt confident that Barb and the staff at Lauxmont had everything under control.
My wedding day turned out absolutely perfect, and it was clear that Lauxmont's staff and Barb had put in the extra effort to make it so. They literally saved the day, and for that they will always hold a special place in our hearts.

After reading some of these reviews months ago, I was a little worried about having my wedding here but we had our ceremony and reception at the Cobblestone Courtyard and it was absolutely amazing! Beautiful scenery (even though we did not have the scenes of the river), wonderful service each and every visit and just an all around terrific venue! Also, I highly recommend hiring Betsy as the decorator and coordinator! She did a fabulous job and it wouldn't have been half as amazing without her!

We had our reception at the Rotunda. It was a GORGEOUS location for a reception; we received multiple compliments on how beautiful the view was and our pictures were fantastic! During the planning, Lauxmont was slow to return phone calls. The only lady who could apparently call me back went on vacation for 2 weeks one month before my wedding. It's a little pricey considering all you get is the location, tables, and chairs, but it's definitely worth it for your big day!

The first thing out of all of our guests mouth was "WOW, beautiful place for a wedding!" The view of the river from atop a mountain and the horses all around in their stalls just makes for a beautiful scene. Couldn't have asked for a more beautiful setting for our day!!!

The Rotunda at Lauxmont Farms was my dream wedding location! I got countless compliments on the view, and my pictures were stunning! The grounds are immaculate, and the staff is so accomodating, I had nothing to worry about but being beautiful on my big day! I would highly recommend Lauxmont Farms, and remember to book early!

We had our wedding at the sunken gardens which was BEAUTIFUL! We had a beautiful day thank goodness because everything was outside. The some communication problems with the staff. At one point it seemed like we were talking to a new person every time. We used Betsy Kohr as our planner whom was wonderful! She helped everything go smoothly and no problems. I would recommend this place except for the fact the it was pricey.

The only good thing about Lauxmont Farms is the scenery.
Now for the downside. They are very disorganized. They forgot about numerous meetings we had scheduled with Lauxmont. You never talk to the same person more than once. They won't let you view the site even after you have booked the venue without an appointment and escort. They told us they would have brick flooring on the tent floor for the sunken gardens and they also told us they would have a second room completed in the farm house for the bride. Both were not completed by our wedding day which was 9 months after our first visit. Now for the wedding day. Thankfully our caterer took care of any hiccups at the start of our day. We rented chairs because Lauxmont has wooden chairs which are painted white but at the end of the wedding season they have numerous scratches and dings that show the brown wood. Due to lack of rain the land was very dry so I cannot fault Lauxmont for that. However the driveway to the site is dirt/stone. They could have at least sprayed the driveway with water before everyone arrived to keep the dust down. All of our guests and their vehicles were covered with dust the day of the wedding. The carriage ride is a joke. The individuals driving the cart were not friendly. The carriage took us to the end of the parking lot and back.
After all of this things went rather well. Until 8pm. There was no more water. That means there was no washing hands or flushing toilets. I'm assuming they operate off of a well which was probably dried up due to the drought. We attempted to contact Lauxmont staff numerous times but were unsuccessful each time. Keep this in mind if you schedule a wedding here in the summer. After reading multiple reviews it appears that water is always an issue. Something they should think about fixing ASAP.
Again, I gave them one star for the beautiful scenery. I would definitely have my wedding here again but I would never do it without a coordinator and outside services!!! Bring some extra water as well to flush the toilets when the water runs dry!

Got married in August at the Sunken Gardens the site was beautiful and Barb the site coordinater was always very helpful whenever I had planning questions. My wedding was truely perfect!! You do have to do a lot of the work yourself so you are just paying for the site but they make that pretty well known.

My husband and I wanted different things when we looked at venues. He wanted there to be shelter from heat and rain, and I wanted there to be outdoor areas for beauty. The Cobblestone Courtyard at Lauxmont Farms offered both!
There were some minor hiccups along the way, though. When they sent the final bill, the wrong location was written on it. It turned out to just be a clerical error, but I'm sure you can imagine my displeasure. Also, we had planned to have our ceremony seats in an arc like orchestra seating when we met with the location planner. The morning the of the wedding, my groom and a few of his groomsmen visited only to find the aisle in a totally weird spot and in straight lines. The three of them had to rearrange all of the chairs by themselves. My only warning to other brides would be that you might want to have somebody visit your location the morning of the wedding to make sure everything is where it's supposed to be so you can get stuff fixed, if need be.

Lauxmont Farms is a gorgeous venue, but it is absolutely necessary to have a wedding planner because on your wedding day the only person they have available should a problem arise is a janitor.

We had our ceremony and reception at Lauxmont Farms in April 2010. Our ceremony was at the Sunken Gardens and our reception at the Cobblestone Courtyard. We were certainly drawn in by the gorgeous scenery and it did not leave us wanting, our guests are still talking about what a "fairytale wedding" it was.
I would agree with other reviewers that they were a little disorganized (I think it is partly due to their laid back and carefree lifestyle), but in the end everything came together for us and we weren't left disappointed in any manner. I would suggest that you book early, make as many appointments as you can, and just call if you have questions!! We did hire the onsite wedding coordinator and she was great in getting all the pieces of the puzzle together. They were very flexible on several of our requests and I think they ultimately want you to have a day that you and your guests will never forget! If you are using the sunken gardens, I would suggest that you strongly recommend to your guests that they wear comfortable (ie not stilettos!) shoes and definitely utilize the golf carts for elderly persons or those who have a hard time walking on uneven surfaces.

After hearing some negative reviews about Lauxmont I can honestly say I am pleased with all of my services I received. I always had all phone calls and questions answered. I also worked with Betsy Kohr, who was amazing at helping my day run smoothly.

My husband and I fell in love with this place as soon as we saw it. We were nervous about using it because we kept hearing horror stories about how the owners never returned phone calls, etc. I am so happy to say that we never had a problem reaching someone at the farm. Any questions were always answered promptly and professionally. My only little complaint (and it really isn't a big deal because you can call them) is that their emails did not work. We worked with Betsy Kohr and Barb and both were wonderful to deal with. Both were very helpful and willing to help us with any questions that we had. They really did make our day feel special!!

The Sunken Gardens site was beautiful, and you get so much for the price! We were married August 16th, 2009, and even though it was a hot day they were flexible with allowing us to take more flaps off the tent they provided for us for our reception. The only reason I gave a low score for responsiveness is because it is sometimes hard to get thru to anyone in the office and its usually always a different person who answers, but in the end everything was set up perfectly (table and chairs are included in the price too!) for both the ceremony and reception.

The Rotunda at Lauxmont Farms was the perfect location for our wedding reception! Within moments of driving up that gorgeous hill overlooking the Susquehanna River, we knew it was the spot. My guests were blown away by the views and the atmosphere. It was breathtaking. I was a little stressed at first, since there were some negative reviews out there, but honestly, our experience was wonderful. The one thing to remember is that it is not a location with a wedding day coordinator included, like some other sites, so I hired Jonnaysa from Planned Perfection. She was amazing! I used lighting from Studio Jenz to create a warm glow in the side room and rented a light-up bar through him as well. We had such a blast at our wedding. We got to do it our way and select all our own vendors. We hand picked our food menu, created signature drinks, everything! It does require more planning than some sites with internal catering and planning services provided, but if you want a gorgeous view and unbeatable atmosphere, visit Lauxmont. We could not be happier! Our wedding day was perfect!

If we had not gotten the most gorgeous day ever, I would not think so highly of this site. It was however perfect and more than I could have asked for. On a sunny day, no place can top the natural beauty of this site. One word of warning is that they don't tell you about the costs of all the little extras. All you get with the space is the site, tables and chairs - NO decor - even if it is hanging on the wall when you tour the place.
The venue is expensive as it is and then all the little extras really add up.
Also, don't be afraid to use "non-family" vendors. This being said, my wedding was perfect and I wouldn't have changed a thing.
