House of Clarendon

We worked with House of Clarendon for our wedding in January 2012. Martine was amazing, creative and exciting to work with. The variety of flavor choices was outstanding and the staff went out of their way to make out cake unique and spectacular. It was pricey, but we got what we paid for. They also seemed willing to work within budget constraints, although we still paid a lot for the cake. The quality of the design was top notch and the quality of the cake was amazing. I've seen and eaten a lot of wedding cakes, but this one was by far the best.

Martin helped me design a truely personal and original cake. I brought in a piece of paisley print fabric that I was incorporating into other parts of my wedding and he reproduced it on my cake and made a whimsical type cake. His artistic abilities are endless. If you want just a plain cake with flowers there is no reason to pay for Martin. Martin can be a little over the top and dramatic about cakes so just know that going in. And while he is expensive he was willing to work with my budget and do a back up cake (not a sheet cake) with three tiers instead of four which brought down the cost of my cake by $300. Later when I decided to get a larger cake a few months before the wedding, he had no problem redoing the design to fit on a larger cake. So he is flexible in that regard and very very responsive. In fact he is the most responsive vendor I worked with. Every time I called he returned my call within the hour. Personally, I choose the cake for style over taste because pictures last longer. If you care about the taste more then there is probably no reason to choose Martin it wasn't the "best cake I have ever had." Also if you have any type of food allergy I would not recommend Martin. The groom and his mother were gluten free. The gluten free top to the cake that House of Clarendon baked turned out to be the most terrible gluten free cake he and his mother had ever had. It was hard as a rock and we could barely cut it during our cake cutting cermony. We are not sure why he has such as resistence to gluten free but he was reluctant to do it in the first place so we should of known right then to have something else for gluten free. There are thoughsands of recipies on the internet and betty crocker even has mixes, you would think as a professional baker he would want to take on that challenge.

Not only did the House of Clarendon do our wedding cake, but they also made the grooms cake! Both were delicious and the fondent was good too! Martine is great. He is very professional and will get back to you in a timely manner.

My cake was absolutely beautiful. I LOVE wedding cakes and finding one that was over the top was my mission and Martine made that so easy. He made a beautiful classic white cake look romantic and timeless yet everyone complimented at how beautiful the cake was and especially how delicious! His fondant is so thin that you don't even know you are eating it! LOVED the cake and LOVED Martine! This place is a win win! Book them...

Everyone said that our wedding was the best that they have ever been to! All of our vendors did such a wonderful job and made our day one to remember. My husband and i had looked high and low to find a great cake vendor, because i do cakes and cupcakes myself, so to find someone that had cake that my husband liked as much as he likes mine was really hard. we had looked that HOC's web site and saw all the beautiful cakes and thought that they were going to be way to expensive for our budget but we scheduled an appt anyway. the moment we tasted the cakes my husband looked at me and said "i think i found a cake that i like better than yours" i was sold i told them to write up the bill cause we found our cake! When i saw it at the reception i was blown away at how beautiful it was i did not want to cut it and eat it i just wanted to freeze it and keep it! Like most brides i did not get to eat my cake but the reception had it boxed up for me and i ate it the next day and it tasted just as good as the small bite i had when we cut the cake! Oh yeah....do you not have to keep and freeze your cake to eat on your 1 year....because they bake a fresh one for you for your 1 year! How cool is that!?!

I had the pleasure of working with Martine on two cakes for my wedding weekend! The first cake was for Friday evening, and was a surprise hamburger groom's cake! My husband was so surprised (Martine and I had to keep a big secret!) and everyone loved it! We were so impressed by this 3-D cake and how life-like it looked! Our wedding cake was the other cake Martine, my husband and I worked together to create! Our wedding theme was a Victorian Garden, and our cake had to match! Martine incorporated so many details that would reflect the Victorian Era and also important details my husband and I wanted to use, such as our "P" monogram! Everyone loved the different flavors and kept complimenting the beauty of the cake! And, as other's posted on here, the best part is that we get to re-live this (fresh) tasty creation on our first wedding anniversary! Thanks again to Martine and the staff at House of Clarendon for creating two amazing cakes that made our weekend so much more special and memorable!

I can't say enough good things about Martine.The cake is OUT of this WORLD!!!! Each tier was different because there were so many delicious options to choose from (also no extra charge). Our guests raved about the cake, and I don't remember how many people said it was the best cake they've ever tasted. It also looked absolutely incredible. No one could believe the calla lilies were made out of sugar because they looked so real!! His work is clean and perfect- I could not find a fault with this cake. Martine-and his cakes- are worth their weight in gold and worth every penny!!!!!!!

If you are looking for a beautiful and unique cake that is delicious, then you need to use House of Clarendon. They'll work to make your cake perfect for your wedding day--all my guests said the cake was wonderful (looking and tasting!). Easy and fun to work with.

Martine was beyond helpful! Our wedding cake was better than delicious, prettier than i could have ever imagined and our wedding guests can't stop talking about how delicious it was! He always remembered who I was when calling or stopping by and was so great to work with. The fabulous reputation House of Clarendon has is only enhanced with Martine's superior customer service.

My sweetheart surprised me with this wonderful cake. I had no idea that she was getting it for me but I was pleasantly surprised. All of my favorite things and activities was on the cake. It was almost too nice to eat but I did. And it was delicious. This was a Birthday I will never forget. Thank you for being a part of my very special day. I loved it and I love my woman for thinking of me in such a special way. She really made my Birthday special

Martine is just awesome to begin with but he makes your final product a work of art. I went in there looking for something different and unique and had some ideas but wasn't positive on exactly what I was looking for. After about 2 hours of talking back and forth he had the brilliant idea to make the cake an all black fondant quilted/beaded cake with a damask ribbon around the bottom. It was absolutely GORGEOUS! I also requested him make a Flyers cake for a grooms cake as a surprise for my husband and that too was over the top.

I'm so glad we met Martin. When we came in for our consultation he treated us like he had known us for years, just by asking few questions about ourselves he knew exactly what we wanted!! We went for a cake that had the same design that was on our wedding invitations, the design on the cake was JUST like the ones on the invitations-perfect! The flavor was just as good. Loved it!!!

My daughter got married on July 24, 2010. The House of Clarendon created her cake and it was truly amazing! Our guests were in awe! They were taking pictures until the cake was cut and eaten! Martine captured her thoughts and ideas perfectly. The cake was not only an amazing work of art, it was also the most delicious cake of all time! The House of Clarendon is the perfect choice for an elegant, once in a life time, dream wedding.

Best cake ever! Martin was great he made a design based on our wants and tone of the wedding and the filling and cake were out of this world!!!

I had a specific design in mind for our wedding cake and martine did a perfect job of translating my photoshop file into layer wraps of fondant. I usually hate fondant, but his is unbelievably thin and delicious! He was very patient during the planning process and matched our color perfectly. House of Clarendon is a little expensive, but with how quickly my cake disappeared (my husband and I didn't even get a piece!), I'd say it was worth it in the end.

My daughters wedding cake for her 7/3/10 wedding was excellent. A little plain because of the pricing but we added real flowers to it and it was fantastic looking. You can't beat the champagne cake.

Martine was great to work with...professional, engaged, interested in making each cake unique and so very funny...he made the whole experience extremely enjoyable!

House of Clarendon was absolutely fantastic to work with. Martine created a cake for us that was just out of this world perfect. It completely fit both my and my husband's personality while looking formal and classy for our guests. While the cake was a bit more than we originally planned, we have absolutely no regrets in investing in House of Clarendon for our wedding cake.

Our cake was beautiful and very delicious. We did find that two of the fillings were swapped, but it tasted wonderful regardless. Would definitely recommend.

The cake was beautiful and tasted amazing! We received so many compliments at our wedding on the cake. Many of the compliments were from guests who don't even like cake, but they loved ours! I highly recommend House of Clarendon. You get the complete package of a beautiful and delicious cake!
